Friday fancies: Our experts give their best bets of the day

Credit: Edward Whitaker

Handicappers' nap

Theglasgowwarrior (7.30 Hamilton)

Made great progress last year, winning four times and running well in some top handicaps. Looked as good as ever at Musselburgh on Monday and should go close.
Sam Walker

Burning up the gallops

Jubiloso (3.55 Newbury)

Fancied to defy a penalty after her eyecatching debut win at Chelmsford last month. Sir Michael Stoute's filly has since worked well on the Limekilns.

Eyecatcher

Velorum (4.15 Newmarket)

A 425,000gns breeze-up purchase who finished second to Skardu in a 7f maiden last autumn. Sea the Stars offspring usually progress from two to three and this colt should be able to get off the mark.
Rodney Pettinga

Irish Angle

Egrecio (8.40 Leopardstown)

The Dermot Weld-trained colt was in the wars on his only start last season when finishing fourth over a mile. Hampered several times during that race, he gets the vote to make a successful reappearance in the last.
Tony O'Hehir

Ace Tipster

Big Kitten (3.35 York)

Can be marked up on recent effort at Chelmsford when second by a head. Yet to show form on grass, but both turf runs were on easy ground when sire was a firm ground specialist in America, so this could be what he wants.

Speed Figures

Three Card Trick (4.35 York)

A course winner in September, his recent outing at Thirsk will have done him good and he may prove the ace in this pack.
Dave Edwards

Spotlight nap

Grandee (3.35 York)

Dominant winner at Newcastle last month on his second start for Roger Fell, and still has mileage in his mark judged on his old form.
Ben Hutton

Dark horse

Lucius Tiberius (3.35 York)

Far from disgraced in his two efforts for his new yard this term in better company than here. A return to his best form last season should see him go close with sights now lowered.
Ben Harris

Must-have stat of the day

Gerald Mosse is 10-46 when riding for Clive Cox since 2008 (22 per cent strike-rate, +£13.42 to £1 stakes), and he looks an interesting jockey booking on Lady Fanditha in York's Listed Marygate Fillies' Stakes at 1.50. The trainer won this race with his only previous runner in 2013.
