Three to note this evening based on Racing Post stats

Far Above: sets the standard at Windsor switching back to novice company
Far Above: sets the standard at Windsor switching back to novice company

Using the Racing Post's unrivalled bank of stats, we pick out three horses to back tonight based on a trainer-jockey combination, recent form and a trainer's course record . . .

Winning combination

Far Above
6.45 Windsor
Angle: James Tate and Jockey PJ McDonald's record

McDonald and Tate are operating at a 41 per cent strike-rate when combining this season, with 15 winners from 37 runners, and have a great chance with Far Above at Windsor.

The three-year-old, who has had two starts over 7f to date, sets the standard switching back to novice company and trying 6f for the first time after a creditable fourth in a Listed contest at Newmarket last month, won by Group 1 runner-up Jash.

In-form trainer

Sleeping Lion
7.35 Pontefract
Angle: Trainer James Fanshawe's recent form

Fanshawe is in a rich vein of form with four winners from his last 17 runners before racing on Monday and saddles just one runner at Pontefract, Sleeping Lion, who has been a model of consistency by not finishing out of the top four in his last six races.

The son of Teofilo has been beaten at 3-1 or shorter on his last four starts but there is plenty of scope for improvement and he seems the most likely threat to the Andrew Balding-trained Caliburn.

Course trainer

Wild Animal
8.15 Windsor
Angle: Saeed Bin Suroor's Windsor record

It has paid to follow Bin Suroor at Windsor – the trainer operates at a 32 per cent strike-rate at the track – and he has an interesting contender in the 1m2f novice stakes with Wild Animal.

The three-year-old son of Kingman was pitched into good company when eighth on his debut in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket, won by Listed winner UAE Jewel, and should improve for the run.
