Evening Angles: three to note at Beverley and Brighton on Racing Post stats
Using the Racing Post's unrivalled bank of stats, we pick out three horses to back tonight based on trainer form, RPRs and, tonight's wild card, a good trainer-jockey combination . . .
Trainer form
Fragrant Belle
6.30 Beverley
Angle: Ralph Beckett is operating at a 28 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight
Ralph Beckett has his team fit and firing at present and Fragrant Belle could continue the trainer's winning momentum on her handicap debut.
The three-year-old filly is taking a significant step up in trip to 1m4f, having previously competed at around a mile. This is also a first start on turf, but she appeals as a likely improver with her trainer in such good form.
Ratings
Ironclad
8.00 Beverley
Angle: Ironclad is 9lb clear of his nearest rival on Racing Post Ratings this evening
Hugo Palmer will be hoping Ironclad can get off the mark at the fourth attempt in the 1m2f maiden at Beverley.
The Dubawi colt sets a good standard on his second at Chelmsford, a rating that puts him 9lb clear of Madeeh on Racing Post Ratings.
There will be a bit of cut in the ground at the Yorkshire course but that should not pose a problem given his brother, Forge, was more than competent on soft ground.
Wild card
Lightning Charlie
6.50 Brighton
Angle: Amanda Perrett and Jason Watson have a 33 per cent strike-rate when teaming up at Brighton.
When Amanda Perrett and Jason Watson combine at Brighton, it usually produces good results. The pair try to build on their good record together at the seaside course with Lightning Charlie, who wears cheekpieces for the first time.
The seven-year-old travelled well enough over course and distance last time before fading late, so the application of cheekpieces could prove a wise move.
