Evening angles: three to note at Kempton based on Racing Post stats

Using the Racing Post's unrivalled bank of stats, we pick out three horses to back tonight based on trainer form, RPRs and, tonight's wild card, jockey bookings. . .

Trainer form

Harry's Bar
6.00 Kempton
Angle: James Fanshawe has had two winners from his last three runners

Trainer James Fanshawe has two runners at Kempton this evening, and although he also saddles Lady Mascara in the 7.00, this Exceed And Excel gelding looks to be his best chance.

He has been operating at a 67 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight, with Merchant Of Venice winning at this track, and Harry's Bar ran with promise on his debut at Yarmouth in May.

He has since been gelded, but he is a brother to Mazzini, who has been plying his trade with great success in Dubai this season, and improvement is clearly expected.

Ratings

Cardsharp
7.30 Kempton
Angle: put up a career-best RPR last time

Surprisingly considering he won the Group 2 July Stakes as a juvenile, Cardsharp produced a career-best performance on RPRs when winning a handicap at Lingfield last time, earning himself a figure of 115.

The Mark Johnston-trained speedster beat subsequent July Cup winner US Navy Flag at Newmarket in 2017 and appears to be reaching peak form once again.

He has to give 7lb and 8lb to Glendevon and Crossing The Line but is still 2lb clear on weight-adjusted Racing Post Ratings and this looks a good opportunity for him to record back-to-back wins.

Wild card

Central City
8.30 Kempton
Angle: Kieran O'Neill has a good record when riding for Ian Williams

Jockey Kieran O'Neill isn't particularly well known for teaming up with Ian Williams-trained horses, but it is worth taking note when he does.

O'Neill has ridden eight winners from 40 mounts for Williams – amassing more than £82,000 in prize-money – which equates to a 20 per cent strike-rate and a 38p profit to a £1 level stake.

He has ridden Central City three times and won on him twice, with the four-year-old also scoring in three of his nine starts for Williams since leaving Hugo Palmer's stable. He could represent a bit of value in the concluding race.
