Using the Racing Post's unrivalled bank of stats, we pick out three horses to back tonight based on trainer form, RPRs and, tonight's wild card, a prolific trainer-jockey combo . . .

Trainer form

Colony Queen
5.45 Lingfield

Angle: Trainer Steve Gollings has won with two of his three runners in the last two days

Colony Queen will be aiming to make it a third winning day in a row for Lincolnshire trainer Steve Gollings in the opening 1m2f fillies' handicap at Lingfield. A winner on her first run on turf and for the yard at Doncaster last month, Colony Queen faces a sterner test this time but her dual-purpose trainer is flying with three victories from 11 runners on the Flat since the start of April.

Ratings

Hesslewood
8.00 Haydock

Angle: Just 1lb off top-rated Sir Victor on Racing Post Ratings

With the hat-tricking Astrologer a non-runner, the three-year-old mile handicap at Haydock has an open look to it and it might be worth taking a flyer on the outsider Hesslewood. Trainer James Bethell has had two winners from his last eight runners and has always thought plenty of Hesslewood, who was disappointing last time but comes right into contention on RPRs.

Wild card

Swift Wing
6.30 Haydock

Angle: Nicky Mackay has a 33 per cent strike-rate when riding for John Gosden at Haydock

John Gosden has a habit of using Nicky Mackay to educate some of his most promising juveniles at Haydock – Sparkle Roll being an example from last year – and like he did with the Ribblesdale third, he sends Swift Wing back to the north-west to right the wrong of a defeat. A brother to Group 2 winners Eagle Top, Wings Of Desire and The Lark, Swift Wing was turned over at 8-15 on heavy going ten days ago but the application of blinkers and drying ground should help make amends.
