Haydock Placepot picks: Paul Kealy tackles a competitive Saturday card

It's a competitive card at Haydock, so the Placepot will take some getting.

Hopefully course specialist Richard Kingscote can get us off to a flyer in the opener (1.10) riding for the first time. The three-year-old is already a winner at Haydock and shaped well from a wide draw behind Outgate (who was subsequently third in Silver Trophy last week) and could have a good season.

, who rattled home for second at Doncaster last time, is the other pick.

I couldn't put favourite Dragon Symbol in for the next (1.45) after a very poor return at York, so my two are and , who appears to be on the up.

is very much the one to beat in the next (2.20), with , who shaped a lot better at Ascot last time, added as back-up.

The Pinnacle Stakes (2.55) is a tight heat but , who was runner-up in the Lancashire Oaks last season and a good second last time out, has to go in, along with Irish raider , who drops in class after a close fourth in Group 2 company last time.

Last year's winner should hold all the aces in the next (3.30) if fit, but he has been off for a while so I'll add the improving , who is just as good at 7f as he is over a shorter trip.

To close we'll make it a straightforward two-by-two through the card with and (4.05) in the last.
