BANKER

Jahaafel(3.50 York)

William Haggas has won this race for the last two years with three-year-olds and he can extend that streak with Jahaafel, who gets 10lb from his older rivals. The Sheikh Hamdan-owned colt absolutely hacked up at Chepstow last time out on his first try over 1m2f, coming well clear under Liam Jones for a six-length success and was awarded an opening mark of 83. The extra half a furlong will suit him here and although Jahaafel didn't beat much on that occasion, he had shown previously that a rating in the low 80s would be workable.

GOOD THING

Wissahickon(3.00 Newmarket)

This 1m2f handicap is one of the best three-year-old events in the sphere this season barring the London Gold Cup run earlier in the year and John Gosden's Wissahickon, who has won three of his four career starts, looks the ideal horse to take the prize. Improving at a rate of knots, the game son of Tapit came on from his runaway Lingfield victory on reappearance to score in a good contest at York last time, battling well to fend off the reopposing Beringer by three-quarters of a length with the pair clear. He recorded an RPR of 107 that day, which suggests his mark of 101 still underestimates him, and even though he's penalised for the victory, he should confirm the form with Alan King's runner.

DARK HORSE

Gossamer Wings(2.25 Newmarket)

One of only a handful of runners I put in my tracker after the royal meeting, Gossamer Wings looks to have a huge chance of going one better than when finishing strongly to take second in the Queen Mary. The Aidan O'Brien-trained filly has progressed well this season and proved she was up to landing a Group 2 contest when beaten just a head that day by Signora Cabello despite not having the race run to suit. An extra furlong isn't a problem and I don't rate Main Edition and La Pelosa that highly.
