BANKER

Nicki's Angel (2.20 York)

This looks to be an above-average running of the Listed Marygate Stakes but the way trainer Richard Fahey talked about Nicki's Angel on Wednesday, as well as the performance she put in when winning on debut, she looks like an exceptional bet at around the 9-2 mark. The daughter of Dark Angel wasn't fancied before her debut and looked to have blown any chance she had of winning when slowly away and jumping to her right from the widest stall. However, Paul Hanagan got her running and she came with a wet sail down the outside to land the prize quite comfortably. The form has since been boosted by victories for the second and third and Nicki's Angel looks to have plenty more progression in her. Fahey regards her extremely highly.

EYECATCHER

Lady Valdean(3.05 Newbury)

Jose Santos' four-year-old filly was well punted (4-1 from 12) on her return to quick conditions at Bath on Wednesday and, off her lowly mark of 69, bolted up by three and three-quarter-length under Richard Kingscote having made every yard of the running. It's not a surprise to see her turned out quickly under a penalty given the way she won and with conditions set to be similar and Joshua Bryan taking off 5lb, she should be able to follow up over this longer trip.

DARK HORSE

Dontgiveuponbob (5.40 York)

Although he's winless in ten starts, don't give up on Bob. Richard Fahey, who had three winners here on Wednesday, targets these big-field handicaps and both he and stablemate Brisk Tempo look sure to run huge races in this closing contest. Rated just 71, the son of Pastoral Pursuits ran encouragingly on his return to action when fourth of ten over an inadequate mile and looks certain to run much better over this 1m4f distance. He's run well on both starts at this track, recording form figures of 42, and his draw in stall 13 looks ideal.
