BANKER

Beshaayir(1.50 Newbury)

Two-year-old daughter of Iffraaj who was well supported into 6-4 favouritism over this course and distance and went down narrowly by a nose to a more experienced rival. She showed that she handled cut in the ground that day, so any rain wouldn't cause a problem, and Ryan Moore has been booked. The Charlie Hills-trained Rewaayat could be anything and is definitely the biggest danger, but Beshaayir's experience will be put to good use here.

DARK HORSE

Eartha Kitt(4.00 Newbury)

Seven of the last nine runnings of this Listed race have gone to three-year-olds. Three-quarters of the field fit the bill this time around and Tom Dascombe's Eartha Kitt sticks out as a nice bet at the likely prices. A very consistent daughter of Pivotal, she looked unlucky when finishing second behind former Lowther winner Queen Kindly at Pontefract last time – dwelt from the stalls and was given too much to do on a track that favours front-runners – and is improving at a rate of knots since the cheekpieces were applied three runs back.
