Bingo can star on a big night for the Magic Man
1.15 Happy Valley
See Me Now
1.45 Happy Valley
Let’s Take It Easy
2.45 Happy Valley
Whichever way you look at it, Joao Moreira looks bound to have a strong influence on Wednesday’s Happy Valley card.
The Magic Man has a golden opportunity to tighten his grip on another jockeys’ championship with arch-rival Zac Purton suspended and at least six of his eight rides look set to be in the top two in the market.
Bingo paid a price for going off harder than ideal over 1400m at Sha Tin on his latest start and the return of Moreira allied to a step down to 1200m in a winnable D’Aguilar Peak Handicap at 1.15 should suit him very well indeed.
See Me Now, tenth behind Gleneagles in the 2,000 Guineas when known as Hail The Hero for David O’Meara, locks horns with an old rival when he meets Planet Star in the Mount Butler Handicap at 1.45.
Planet Star got the money here three weeks ago, but See Me Now came home strongly for third after taking a scenic route into the straight and a 5lb pull and smoother sailing can help him reverse the form this time.
Encore Boy has had no luck with the draw this season and stall 11 in the Nam Long Sham Handicap at 2.15 is just enough to stop recommending him as a bet, but this gelding has plenty of speed and can still go close if Moreira can tuck in behind what should be a fierce pace.
The Brazilian’s presence for the first time aboard progressive Circuit Glory in the Pottinger Peak Handicap at 3.15 is well worth noting, but Italian rider Alberto Sanna looks the man to watch in the Indian Recreation Club Challenge Cup at 2.45.
Sanna’s hunger and professionalism have impressed many in recent months and Let’s Take It Easy is the sort of consistent and progressive handicapper who could easily put his name in lights again.
