Senegal are capable of causing big upsets

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane is part of a potent Senegal attack
1 of 1

Manager Aliou Cisse

Senegal stunned the planet to reach the quarter-finals of the 2002 World Cup and their captain from that successful campaign is now leading the charge as the Lions of Teranga manager.

Aliou Cisse knows all about being part of a team of dangerous underdogs and Senegal definitely have the potential to cause upsets. They are unlikely to win the World Cup, but they could at least cause problems for bigger nations in the early stages.

Central to that will be speedster Sadio Mane who is fast developing into an elite performer. He gets decent, if inconsistent, support from Monaco's Keita Balde and Torino's M'Baye Niang so there is quality in the final third.

Idrissa Gueye and Cheikhou Kouyate sit in midfield and protect a defence where Napoli's rock Kalidou Koulibaly is one of the best in the world.
