Well-matched Seattle and Kansas City may struggle to find net

Seven of the last eight meetings between Seattle and Sporting Kansas City at CenturyLink Field have produced 1-0 scorelines, the last two in the home side’s favour.

This is a fixture that historically sees two well-matched sides struggle to gain an edge and another low-scorer has to be on the cards.

Take the 23-20 from Ladbrokes that one or both teams do not score.

Seattle, who were struggling a couple of months ago, have suddenly roared into playoff contention with a ten-match unbeaten run. Brian Schmetzer’s side have won seven in a row and in that winning streak they have conceded only three goals.

They have not failed to score in a home game since May.

Kansas City, meanwhile, have posted four shutouts in a row culminating in Sunday’s 2-0 success against Minnesota.

These are two of the league's most in-form sides and it promises to be a tense affair.

But goals definitely don’t look obvious. Seattle are the lowest scorers in the league with just 32 goals scored in 25 matches. But in Stefan Frei they boast a fine keeper behind a solid back four and they have shipped just 26, the joint-best defensive record in the league.

Recommendation
One or both teams not to score
