Preview

Sheffield Wednesday are a huge price to at least avoid defeat against a Brentford side yet to recreate last season's playoff form.

The Owls, without a points deduction, would be a point clear of the Bees going into this tussle at Hillsborough where Garry Monk's men have drawn against both Watford and QPR.

The South Yorkshire side go into the game on the back of a 1-0 win at Birmingham, their fifth clean sheet in eight matches this season.

That's the size of the obstacle which Brentford will try to breach and it's a Bees side, of course, minus two-thirds of last term's famed 'BMW' strike force with Said Benrahma having followed Ollie Watkins into the Premier League.

There tend not to be too many goals in Wednesday's games – seven in five so far – but the hosts, with the stalemate no bet, look the call.

QPR have built a side who look as if they can be a real threat in the Championship this season and can certainly get the better of Preston at Loftus Road.

Rob Dickie's arrival has given them a defensive security while Albert Adomah and Chris Willock have that wild-card X Factor.

Saturday's 0-0 draw at Bournemouth was an outstanding effort against a very good team and while that was a third successive draw for Mark Warburton's men, wins should soon be forthcoming.

Preston have also won only once this season and were beaten 1-0 at home by Cardiff on Sunday.

Stoke are looking even more solid than the Hoops and enjoying an excellent start to the season.

Michael O'Neill's men have already won at Wolves and Aston Villa in the League Cup and are unbeaten in five culminating in Saturday's 2-0 win at Luton.

Barnsley somehow beat the drop last season but it's already looking as though a repeat struggle is on the cards. They have yet to win this season and while Saturday's 2-2 draw with leaders Bristol City was gutsy they are going to find the obdurate Potters tough to break down at the bet365 Stadium.
