The battle for automatic promotion to the Premier League is heating up and the pressure may get to third-placed Watford, who could drop two points against 16th-placed Nottingham Forest at Vicarage Road.
A top-two finish looks achievable for the Hornets, who are below second placed Brentford on goal difference and one point above Swansea, who have played two games fewer.
They have won five of their last six matches since switching from a 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3 formation but two of their first-choice midfield three – suspended Nathaniel Chalobah and injured Tom Cleverley – miss out this weekend.
Watford's top scorer Joao Pedro is available after a one-match ban but their under-strength midfield offers hope to Forest, who are improving.
Forest lost 1-0 at home to Luton on Tuesday despite winning the shot count 19 to nine but they have been defeated just once in eight Championship away games and can earn a point against Watford, who they held to a 0-0 draw at the City Ground in December.
Watford have drawn three of their last five league meetings against Nottingham Forest.
