Wasteful Columbus could combust away to Atlanta
Josef Martinez primed to lead goal charge again
Major League Soccer
It would be a challenge to find an Atlanta United match report without mention of Josef Martinez in Major League Soccer this term and the stellar striker can help his side to a healthy win at home to Columbus Crew.
Martinez has notched in each of Atlanta's last seven MLS fixtures, having scored a hat-trick against DC United before back-to-back braces against Montreal and Toronto in the club's last two encounters.
He has stormed to the top of the scoring charts with 26 goals in this year's MLS and is a key contributor in the final third.
The 25-year-old is too short a price in the goalscorer betting so backing a comprehensive Atlanta victory against the resurgent Crew could be the best bet.
Atlanta have had a perennial stranglehold on top spot in the Eastern Conference in 2018 and even when performances have dipped they have still picked up points.
If United do not win, they tend to make themselves difficult to beat, and four of their six stalemates this season coming in their last ten matches.
Their defensive resolve can comfortably withstand a Columbus team whose miserable goal return of 31 renders them unlikely to pick up points against the Five Stripes.
Columbus were wasteful in their home meeting with United earlier this year, failing to net from 12 attempts and losing the game 2-0.
