Vinales value to deny Marquez at Aragon
The Doctor makes a quick return just three weeks after leg break
Aragon Grand Prix qualifying
BT Sport 2, 1.10pm Saturday
Marc Marquez is a heavy favourite to take his seventh pole position of the year in Aragon GP qualifying.
The championship leader set the pace in the first practice session before his Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa took over in the afternoon.
However, both sessions took place in the wet and the forecast for qualifying day is much more positive.
Maverick Vinales grabbed pole position in Misano last time after Marquez crashed, and the Yamaha rider is a value alternative.
It has been an up-and-down year for the team, but Vinales's fourth place in the wet at Misano was a solid effort after he made a poor start and the bike should be competitive at Aragon.
Amazingly Valentino Rossi is competing this weekend just three weeks after breaking his tibia and fibula in a motocross accident. Heroic though that is, it is inconceivable the Doctor will be anywhere near peak form.
