US Open final repeat in Paris semi
Sloane Stephens is favourite to beat Madison Keys
The first Roland Garros women’s semi will be a repeat of last year’s US Open final with Madison Keys a 6-4 underdog against fellow American Sloane Stephens for a place in the Paris title decider.
Keys pipped Yulia Putintseva 7-6 6-4 but Stephens crushed Daria Kasatkina 6-3 6-1 to put her in line for a second Grand Slam title to add to the New York crown she took with a 6-3 6-0 victory over Keys in September.
Rafael Nadal’s hopes of an 11th Roland Garros singles win were boosted when Dominic Thiem defeated second seed Alexander Zverev 6-4 6-2 6-1.
Thiem next plays 1,000-1 shot Marco Cecchinato, who saw off Novak Djokovic 6-3 7-6 1-6 7-6 to continue his fairy-tale run.
