Union Berlin can extend unbeaten run with Ingolstadt stalemate

Ingolstadt boss set for first home game in charge

Ingolstadt's Sonny Kittel can help his side sound out Union Berlin

Bundesliga 2 Monday 7.30pm

New Ingolstadt boss Alexander Nouri started his tenure with a 2-1 defeat to league leaders Cologne last time out but his side can get a point from their clash with highflying Union Berlin.

One place and two points separated these two sides last term and, although the hosts have endured a poor start to the 2018-19 campaign, they could be buoyed by the arrival of their new boss.

The home side have just one win in seven games this season, and have shipped 15 goals already, but they have been unfortunate to come away with nothing from their last two matches.

Ingolstadt mustered 15 shots in their encounter with Cologne and led 1-0 only for a penalty to allow the opposition back into the game.

That came after a slender loss in their most recent home match against St Pauli in which the sending-off of Konstantin Kerschbaumer inside the final 15 minutes put the hosts on the back foot in a game they had dominated up to that point.

Union Berlin remain unbeaten this season and form part of the pack chasing down Cologne in top spot but three of their last four matches have ended in stalemates.

Two of these were against sides in the lower echelons of the Bundesliga 2, Sandhausen and Duisburg, and Ingolstadt can become the latest team to take a point off the capital club.
