Underachiever Cao may not be taken to pieces by Brecel
Belgian could have one eye on upcoming European Masters
Eurosport 1, 7.30am & 12.30pm Thursday
Cao Yupeng may finally be doing justice to his talent on the green baize and it could be worth supporting the Chinese player on the handicaps for his Yushan World Open third-round clash against Luca Brecel.
Cao, who has a cue action many players could only dream of, was 1,000-1 before the tournament started but his odds have shrunk to a tenth of that price following his 5-4 victory over Stuart Bingham.
Not only is Brecel already a title winner this season - he won the China Championship last month - but the Belgian also has the European Masters coming up early next month. That will take place in the region where Brecel lives, so he may be of a mind to conserve some energy for a big push in that tournament.
Brecel is clearly the rightful favourite but it could be worth chancing that he fails to claim five of the first seven frames against a serial underachiever playing in his homeland.
Li Hang, who looks to be developing greater self-belief and consistency at a higher level this season, could see punter support for his clash with Peter Ebdon.
