Match previews

Notts County begun the season with a seven-game unbeaten run before two disappointing defeats to Altrincham and Woking but could bounce back at Halifax on Tuesday evening.

The Magpies can welcome back Cal Roberts from suspension for the trip to The Shay, allowing the visitors the chance to reunite him with fellow forwards Ruben Rodrigues and Kyle Wootton. The trio have notched 12 of County’s 16 goals this season and they are one of the best forward lines in the National League.

Ian Burchnall may also have defenders Connell Rawlinson and Kyle Cameron back in his squad after injury which should help shore up County's leaky defence.

In the EFL Trophy, Ipswich look a big price when they travel to Gillingham.

The Tractor Boys have struggled for cohesion since overhauling their squad in the summer and the title hopefuls are languishing in 18th in League One at present. However, there have been green shoots recently, including a 6-0 hiding of Doncaster.

Paul Cook’s side certainly have a deeper squad than the Gills and will be desperate for a morale-boosting result after their poor start in the league.

It can take time for any manager to settle on his best 11 after such drastic changes to his squad and Tuesday's Trophy trip to Kent looks a prime opportunity for Cook to do so.

Gillingham are one place and one point above their visitors in the third tier having also won just two of their 11 league games, but it is Ipswich who get the nod.
