Tranmere should be too hot for toiling visitors Ebbsfleet

Barrow look great value to add to Torquay's troubles

Tranmere boss Micky Mellon is seeking promotion

Tranmere have collected more home points than any team in the National League this season and they look solid odds-on favourites to overcome mid-table Ebbsfleet at Prenton Park.

The promotion race has had an air of unpredictability all season but Tranmere have started to punch their weight and are emerging as serious title contenders.

They are fifth in the division, only five points behind leaders Macclesfield, and have collected 23 points from their last ten games.

Should they continue in a similar vein until the end of the season they will have every chance of climbing a further four places in a league where everybody seems to be struggling to put a consistent run together.

Micky Mellon's side have started to score a lot of goals thanks largely to strikers Andy Cook (eight goals in his last ten games) and James Norwood (five in his last ten).

Tranmere have scored three goals or more in each of their last five home games and their free-scoring ways are bad news for Ebbsfleet, who are falling away from the playoff-chasing pack.

The Fleet have won just one of their last six games and look there for the taking.

Torquay always seem to extricate themselves from trouble with a late-season flourish but even by their standards they are approaching their home match with Barrow in a desperate situation.

The Gulls are rock-bottom and ten points behind Barrow, who are just outside the relegation zone.

Three points are a must for Torquay and they are favourites to get them.

However, Barrow have plundered 13 points from their last five away games and look great value to add to Torquay's troubles.
