Toronto revival could end when New York City come to town
City remain in contention for the Supporters Shield
Major League Soccer

Unbeaten in six matches in all competitions, Toronto have been getting their Major League Soccer campaign back on track but their revival could stall at home to New York City.
The Reds have been a far cry from the team who romped to the treble in 2017 but they have looked like regaining some of last season’s form following successive 2-1 and 3-0 wins over Chicago and a draw with Atlanta.
They have, however, relied on injury-time equalisers in their last two outings and if they have one eye on the second leg of their Canadian Championship semi-final against Vancouver on Thursday they could be swept aside by New York.
Despite losing manager Patrick Vieira earlier this year, City remain in contention for the Supporters Shield, having lost just one of their last six MLS matches.
Toronto have already shipped more goals this term than they did in the whole 2017 regular season and, with Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore finding form, it is clear that their rearguard is their weakness.
City’s dynamic set-up has seen 12 different players find the net for them this term and they have scored in their last 13 games. Expect them to have no issue putting a possibly distracted Toronto to the sword at BMO Field.
