Salford v Hull
Sky Sports 2 & Mix, 8pm Friday

Last September Salford were within seconds of being relegated from the Betfred Super League before staging an unlikely Houdini act to win the Million Pound Game at Hull KR.

Nine months on, the Red Devils are sitting second in the table and dreaming of Grand Final glory.

Salford were 100-1 to be crowned champions before the season kicked off but the best you'll find now is 9-1, such has been the amazing turnaround in their fortunes.

Last weekend's home loss to Wakefield ended a seven-match winning streak and Ian Watson's men are 5-6 to get back on track against Hull.

The Black & Whites have had an up-and-down year. After three weeks of downs, they were back up last weekend with a 39-26 success over champions Wigan.

Hull are still without three key men in Gareth Ellis, Scott Taylor and Marc Sneyd as they look to avenge April's 54-18 home hiding by Salford.

With the outcome far from simple to predict, it may be worth taking a punt on Ben Murdoch-Masila scoring for Salford.

The Tongan international is his team's top scorer with ten tries in 12 games.

Murdoch-Masila hasn't notched for three matches but his overall record of having touched down in seven of his 12 appearances indicates the 9-5 offered by Paddy Power about him scoring is value.

Supporting Widnes with a 14-point start at St Helens also looks a good bet.

Saints have improved under new coach Justin Holbrook, winning two of their three fixtures since the Australian took the reins.

However, bookmakers may not have given the Vikings enough credit for their recent resurgence.

Denis Betts's team rattled Castleford's cage before defeating Leeds and Catalans to spark hopes of an unlikely bid to escape the bottom four.

Widnes also defeated Saints 16-14 at the Select Security Stadium two months ago and may have better prospects in this return fixture than the prices imply.
