Tired Juan Martin del Potro looks vulnerable in Shanghai
Borna Coric is a dangerous opponent
ATP Shanghai Masters
Sky Sports Action, from 6am Thursday
Juan Martin del Potro ran out a comfortable winner when he faced Borna Coric at the US Open last month but the Argentinian, a finalist in New York and in Beijing last week, is feeling the effects of a lengthy campaign.
Delpo takes on the Croat again - this time for a place in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters - but he heads into the match after a fortunate second-round victory over Richard Gasquet in which he struggled physically.
Gasquet failed to be ruthless when presented with chances to take hold of the match. The fickle Frenchman was broken when trying to serve out the first set at 5-4, losing it 7-5, and then choked again from 6-2 up in the second-set tiebreak.
Del Potro showed customary determination to clinch the victory but Coric should be capable of taking full advantage with the Tower of Tandil looking far from his best. He opened with a victory over Stan Wawrinka before easing past Bradley Klahn to make the third round.
1pt 13-8 general
