In this week's ATP action, Roger Federer is odds-on to win an eighth title in his home tournament, the Swiss Indoors, and it's difficult to see many players troubling the top seed.

Juan Martin del Potro, who upset Federer in finals of this tournament in 2012 and 2013, is the obvious danger. But the fact that the languid Argentinian retained his title in Stockholm on Sunday, courtesy of an impressive 6-4 6-2 final victory over Grigor Dimitrov, could mean the Tower of Tandil may be jaded come the end of the week.

Federer has his sights set on relieving Rafael Nadal of the year-end number one ranking, so he ought to be giving his all.

In the competitive Erste Bank Open, which starts in Vienna, it could pay to chance rank outsider Sebastian Ofner in his homeland.

The Austrian put in an excellent effort in the summer when reaching the last 32 at Wimbledon and a reproduction of that form could make odds of 275-1 look huge.

All matches at this level are potentially tough, but Ofner's compatriot Dominic Thiem looks his biggest rival and the second seed has appeared to be labouring a little in recent months.
