Dominic Thiem has capitalised on Novak Djokovic's early exit to reach the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open and his reward is a clash with Milos Raonic.

Neither player was given much chance by the oddsmakers before the Indian Wells Masters 1,000 Series tournament started - Thiem was an 80-1 shot while Raonic was offered at a mammoth 200-1 by Sky Bet.

But Raonic, who has won all four sets the pair have contested in their two meetings, both of which were on hard courts, has been installed favourite to deny the Austrian ace and reach Sunday's final.

Thiem had the benefit of a walkover in the last round when in-form Gael Monfils pulled out of their quarter-final. Raonic, meanwhile, breezed past Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3 6-4 to set up this clash.

Raonic should still have plenty of energy left for his California title push and it could pay to support the Canadian giving up a handicap start of 1.5 games.
