Sandgren may still be overrated after his Australian Open run

The top four seeds have exited from the women's Kremlin Cup – world number one Simona Halep elected not to play in Moscow with the WTA Finals Singapore starting on Sunday – but bill-topper Julia Goerges is still ploughing a furrow in the Luxembourg Open.

Karolina Pliskova and Kiki Bertens joined Halep and Sloane Stephens in exiting the lucrative Moscow event and fifth seed Anastasija Sevastova is the highest-ranked player remaining in the Kremlin Cup women's singles.

Sevastova meets experienced qualifier Vera Zvonareva in the last eight, while Goerges faces a potentially tough quarter-final clash with Donna Vekic in Luxembourg.

The best bet of the day may be in the ATP Stockholm Open, where Australian Open quarter-finalist Tennys Sandgren may be made to toil by qualifier Oscar Otte.

Sandgren is favourite by virtue of his higher rank, but the Tennessee-born 27-year-old may find unheralded German Otte tough to dismiss.

Otte qualified for the main draw with victories over Bernard Tomic and Jurgen Zopp, and he franked that final-round win in Sweden with another straight-sets triumph over lucky-loser Zopp in his main-draw opener.

He clearly has ability and he could win at least a set or maybe even upset Sandgren on the indoor hard terrain.

Recommendation
O Otte to win at least a set
