Daniil Medvedev and Alex de Minaur are two exciting prospects tipped for glowing futures and they could be difficult to split in their second-round clash in Winston-Salem.

Medvedev needed three sets to overcome Aussie ace De Minaur in his own back yard in the final of the Sydney Open in January and another titanic tussle between two in-form players looks a strong possibility.

The pair will recognise this event as an ideal opportunity to secure some silverware as the heavyweights rest ahead of next week’s US Open and that should lead to a high-quality encounter.

The Russian, standing at 6ft 6in, is packed with a powerful serve and is a difficult man to break, while De Minaur, a beaten finalist in his latest apperance at the Washington Open, just gets better and should be revitalised following a two-week break.

Four of Medvedev's last seven matches have gone the distance and De Minaur has the tools to make the Russian toil.

In the women's action, Cincinnati champion Kiki Bertens tackles Anett Kontaveit who she beat in three sets on the way to the title.

The Dutchwoman would frank the form if in similar vein but it is difficult to know what her recent heroics have taken out of her.

Recommendation
Over 2.5 sets in D Medvedev v A de Minaur
