Tournament preview

Talented Australian Nick Kyrgios has showcased his rare ability and dodgy temperament this month, finishing runner-up to Rafael Nadal in Beijing and quitting during his second-round match in Shanghai. But he looks the best player in the European Open in Antwerp.

Tournament favourite David Goffin – the number one seed and winner of the recent Japan Open - will have plenty of support from the home crowd.

Goffin is certain to be highly motivated, which is something that can never be taken for granted with Kyrgios.

But if Kyrgios can muster the enthusiasm he showed when seeing off Alexander Zverev 6-3 7-5 on his way to the China Open final against Nadal, he will take all the beating.

Second seed and third favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga looks poor value, having not got past the last eight at any event since May, and a better alternative to Kyrgios could be Argentina's Diego Schwartzman – a quarter-finalist at the US Open and a recent semi-finalist in Tokyo where he lost 7-6 7-6 to Goffin in a tight match.
