Chengdu Open
From 6am Tuesday

Borna Coric is not always the most reliable of players to support, but partly because of that inconsistency the Croat can often offer value to bounce back with a victory.

Coric came an early cropper in St Petersburg last week, but the 20-year-old has been well backed to defeat Guido Pella in his Chengdu Open curtain-raiser.

Pella is not a bad player. The Argentinian, 27, is an underachiever on clay and hard courts who is capable of rising a lot further up the ATP rankings, possibly even becoming a top-20 performer one day.

Therefore, there is a risk in backing Coric to start well in China. But he is such a classy performer – if Pella is a potential top-20 player, Coric could reach the top ten – that he's worth chancing at 4-6.

Tournament previews

Following their success in the inaugural Laver Cup, in which a European team defeated a World team 15-9 in Prague on Sunday, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are 3-1 with Betway to play in the men's doubles at Wimbledon in the next three years and 10-1 to win that title before the end of 2020. The next Laver Cup takes place in Chicago next year.

There were some big surprises in day one in Wuhan, where US Open finalists Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys both lost.
