Preview

Wimbledon starts on Monday week but there are plenty of decent players still happy to have a few days in the sun for the Majorca Championship, which starts on Sunday.

French Open champion Novak Djokovic is off to Calvia too but the world number one is only competing in the doubles this week, so Daniil Medvedev tops the bill in the singles ahead of Dominic Thiem and Spaniards Roberto Bautista Agut and Pablo Carreno Busta, all of whom get first-round byes.

Of those who have been going well on grass, Feliciano Lopez and Sam Querrey can be considered, but this is also the type of event in which the versatile Bautista Agut, who is adept on any terrain, could step up, so the third seed can be considered when the oddsmakers issue prices.

Casper Ruud, Karen Khachanov, Ugo Humbert and Dusan Lajovic are the remaining seeds. The fact there were no outright shows for Majorca early on Saturday evening can in part be attributed to Humbert having reached the final in Halle on Sunday courtesy of upsetting Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals of the Noventi Open. Humbert will play Andrey Rublev in the trophy match.

The WTA Bad Homburg Open is also due to start on Sunday but the draw for the German tournament had not been made as of late on Saturday afternoon.

Bookmakers are likely to have have outright and match prices available for Majorca and Bad Homburg on Sunday.

ATP and WTA tournaments on grass at Eastbourne's Devonshire Park are due to start on Monday.
