Jan-Lennard Struff has had a fine campaign, but it has not been capped by a title triumph and the German may find Andrey Rublev too good in their St Petersburg curtain-raiser (2pm approx).

Rublev is still playing his way back to his best after missing three months due to a debilitating back injury, but the talented Russian has been active since July and it may not be long before he rediscovers peak form.

Rublev is a huge talent who looks sure to be a top-20 performer before long and quite probably a top-ten star.

Bookmakers make him an uneasy favourite to set up a last-16 date with top seed Dominic Thiem, but sometimes such markets afford value openings for punters and the chance can be taken on the superior player.

The live action on the WTA Tour continues in Tokyo, Seoul and Guangzhou.

Recommendation
A Rublev
1pt 8-11 general
