Day eight
BBC1 & BBC2, from 11am (1pm Centre Court & Court One) Tuesday

B Strycova v J Konta

Johanna Konta has fought back from a set down to beat Grand Slam champions Sloane Stephens and Petra Kvitova in her last two matches, and the battling Brit can reach another Grand Slam semi-final at the expense of Barbora Strycova.

Strycova was the winner of their only previous meeting on a Tokyo hard court in 2017, but 28-year-old Konta looks to be playing as well as ever and is expected to delight the Wimbledon crowd by advancing to the last four.

Nerves crept in as Konta attempted to serve out the match against Kvitova, but she had played well enough to earn a double break of serve in the decider and fully deserved to win the contest.

Strycova is playing well, having beaten Kiki Bertens and Elise Mertens in back-to-back matches. She has, however, never reached a Grand Slam semi-final and beating Konta is a lot to ask of the 33-year-old Czech.

S Williams v A Riske

Serena Williams became the favourite in her bid to win an eighth Wimbledon crown on Monday after world number one Ashleigh Barty was knocked out, but now the American veteran must defeat her compatriot and Barty's conqueror Alison Riske.

Pittsburgh native Riske has played the best tennis of her career at the All England Club grass in taking out Donna Vekic, Ivana Jorovic and Belinda Bencic before accounting for French Open queen Barty.

That is a serious list of victims, although beating Serena on her favoured turf is a whole different level of form for Riske, who has won grass titles in Surbiton and Den Bosch this year.

Williams opened up at 1-5 to reach the semi-finals but soon drifted to 2-7 as punters started to come for the underdog. They could be correct to do so and Riske looks capable of staying on the right side of a 4.5-game handicap.

E Svitolina v K Muchova

Elina Svitolina reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon for the first time when she beat Petra Martic on Monday but the 24-year-old has long looked a Grand Slam champion in the making and she can march on with a victory against Karolina Muchova.

The Ukrainian had suffered with injury problems in the last few months but looks back to full health and was in excellent touch in dismissing Martic in straight sets.

Muchova beat well-fancied Karolina Pliskova in a last-16 epic that ended at 13-11 in the third and she could be feeling the effects of that battle with no rest day available.

Like Martic, Muchova has lots of variety in her game but that won't trouble Svitolina, who is one of the best movers in the women's game. She could be set for a comfortable victory.

S Halep v Shuai Zhang

Simona Halep has not reached a Wimbledon semi-final since 2014 but the Romanian has finished the last two seasons as the WTA number one and she showed her class in taking out 15-year-old prodigy Cori Gauff in the last 16.

Gauff came at her with the fearless game that endeared the Wimbledon crowd to the teenager in the first week but Halep was solid in winning 6-3 6-3.

She does, however, face a different test in Chinese player Shuai Zhang.

Zhang won as the outsider against Caroline Garcia, Carolina Wozniacki and Dayana Yastremska to reaching the quarter-finals and she leads the seventh seed 2-1 in their head-to-head series. Don't rule out another upset in the women's draw.
