Tomas Machac vs Taylor Fritz predictions

Last season’s US Open runner-up Taylor Fritz needed four sets to see off Lloyd Harris and Jerome Kym in the last two rounds and he may have to work hard to fend off the challenge of Tomas Machac.

A lack of big-stage experience was the undoing for Kym in the crunch moments and a similar performance would provide opportunities for Machac, who is an extremely reliable operator and could claim plenty more titles having made his breakthrough at the Mexican Open in February.

The Czech performer has recorded 3-0 wins over Luca Nardi, Joao Fonseca and Ugo Blanchet and he can give Fritz a scare, just as he did when the American prevailed in an epic five-setter at the French Open in 2020.

Elena Rybakina vs Marketa Vondrousova predictions

Elena Rybakina took only one hour and three minutes to see off Emma Raducanu 6-1 6-2 in round three and the manner of that display could spell trouble for 2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova.

The Kazakhstani ace didn’t face a single break-point opportunity and, having earlier eased past Julieta Pareja and Tereza Valentova 2-0, she could make light work of Vondrousova who can rack up unforced errors when under pressure.

Rybakina made semi-finals in Washington, Montreal and Cincinnati in the build up to the US Open and she has won 13 of her last 16 matches which includes a straight-sets victory over world number one Aryna Sabalenka.
