Rafael Nadal is the big name in action on day two of the US Open men's singles and the three-time champion should have few worries against John Millman in New York City.

World number one and defending champion Naomi Osaka and Wimbledon heroine Simona Halep top the women's bill but the best value lies elsewhere.

Stefanos Tsitsipas v Andrey Rublev

Stefanos Tsitsipas has found it tough going since leaving the clay courts and he could find Andrey Rublev a difficult proposition in their US Open first-round clash.

It's possible that Rublev could become a superior performer to the Greek, so punters may be getting decent value about the eighth seed coming an early cropper at Flushing Meadows.

Tsitsipas made the semi-finals of the Australian Open in January, so it would be rash to rule out his chances of bouncing back to winning form on the Decoturf in New York.

However, losing his opening matches at Wimbledon and in Montreal and Cincinnati is not ideal form to take into a clash with Rublev, one of the best young players in the sport.

The Russian was hindered by a back problem in the first half of the campaign, but judging by the way he has been playing of late that may now be less of an issue.

Recommendation
A Rublev +1.5 sets

Matteo Berrettini v Richard Gasquet

Matteo Berrettini enjoyed a golden period earlier in the season when winning titles in Budapest and Stuttgart, but with things having gone quieter for the Italian a date with Richard Gasquet could prove problematic.

Gasquet is one of the best players never to have won a major. His season was going along pretty unremarkably until Cincinnati, when he suddenly started showing his mercurial talent of old on the way to a semi-final berth.

Ideally, punters would look for a bit more consistency from the Frenchman before betting, but it may still be worth taking the chance that his Ohio effort has given him a serious confidence boost going into the final Grand Slam tournament of the year.

Recommendation
R Gasquet

Filip Krajinovic v Cedrik-Marcel Stebe

Cedrik-Marcel Stebe earned some much-needed ATP chart points when reaching the Gstaad final last month but the German, a serial protected-ranking user, could struggle to get a look-in against Filip Krajinovic.

The Serb, who is coming back to somewhere near his best after missing virtually the whole of June, is known for being injury-prone but still looks a good bet for odds-on backers to make light of a concession of 1.5 sets.

However, it may still be worth taking the chance, at better prices, that Krajinovic can outclass his opponent in straight sets.

Recommendation
F Krajinovic to win 3-0

Anastasia Potapova v Cori Gauff

Cori Gauff sets out on her first US Open main-draw mission, but the 15-year-old American may have to dig deep to overcome Anastasia Potapova.

The 18-year-old Potapova is one of the best young players in Russia and could make the wildcard toil.

But given what happened at Wimbledon last month, when Gauff came through qualifying to reach the last 16 of the grass-court major, it would rank as a big disappointment were her New York dreams to end in round one.

With so much expectation surrounding Gauff, it's probably worth taking the chance on her at the odds available.

Recommendation
C Gauff

Danielle Collins v Polona Hercog

Danielle Collins is one of the feistiest performers in tennis and that, aligned with an appearance in her home major, could help her see off Polona Hercog.

The Slovene caused problems for Cori Gauff at Wimbledon, but every match should be taken on its merits and ferocious battler Collins can be tough to stop.

Recommendation
D Collins
