Preview

Punters will need to be quick out of the blocks on day two of the WTA Dubai Duty Free Championship, but the bet of the day could be Karolina Muchova to win her all-Czech battle with Katerina Siniakova.

Muchova has already been backed to progress to the last 16 and considering Siniakova’s career is a bit 'two steps forward and one step back', this looks a good opportunity for the favourite to make her mark.

If anything, it’s slightly surprising that Muchova, the higher-ranked of the pair, isn’t shorter to start positively.

Siniakova, like Muchova aged 23, isn’t opposed lightly because she has the ability to become a top-20, and possibly top-ten, player herself.

But such is Muchova’s greater self-belief that the chance to support her should be taken, even though she may have to toil for victory.

Dominic Thiem could face a tricky opener in Rio against unheralded Felipe Meligeni.
