This week's ATP and WTA tennis tournament previews, best bets & odds
ATP Rio Open | ATP Open 13 Marseille | ATP Delray Beach | WTA Hungarian Open
ATP Rio Open
Dominic Thiem merits respect whenever he plays on South American clay but the Austrian could be worth opposing in the ATP Rio Open despite being installed as a 7-4 favourite.
Thiem was defeated by Diego Schwartzman in the semi-finals of the Argentina Open on Saturday and he was beaten in the quarter-finals at the Brazilian Jockey Club last year, failing to retain the title that he won in 2017.
While the 25-year-old world number eight has a solid chance, there are plenty of dangerous opponents for him to negotiate including Buenos Aires finalists Schwartzman and Marco Cecchinato.
At a bigger price, Spanish youngster Jaume Munar could be worth an each-way interest. The 21-year-old was a French Open junior runner-up and has posted respectable efforts in Cordoba and Argentina over the last two weeks.
Recommendation
J Munar

ATP Open 13 Marseille
French players have an excellent record in the ATP Open 13 and the home team will be looking to veteran pair Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gael Monfils to provide fireworks in Marseille this week.
La Monf arrives in his homeland after a victory in the Rotterdam Open - his first title in more than a year - but Tsonga is a three-time winner in Marseille and could be the man to back.
The 33-year-old looks to be over the worst of his injury problems and confirmed his liking for playing in front of a home crowd by winning the Open Sud de France two weeks ago.
He was outplayed by Daniil Medvedev in Holland last week but Tsonga is aiming to climb back up the rankings and could emerge best from a competitive field that includes Australian Open semi-finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Recommendation
J-W Tsonga

ATP Delray Beach Open
Juan Martin del Potro returns at the ATP Delray Beach Open after he was forced to miss the start of the season following a fractured kneecap at the Shanghai Masters but he may be best watched on his seasonal bow.
Delpo is the star turn in Florida but he usually takes some time to find peak fitness and he was presumably way short of his best when opting not to contest the Australian Open.
Frances Tiafoe broke through at the top level in this event last year, beating Del Potro on the way, and looks decent value to follow up.
He delivered a below-par showing in the New York Open last week but recorded wins over Grigor Dimitrov, Andreas Seppi and Kevin Anderson in reaching the quarter-finals of the Melbourne Slam.
Recommendation
F Tiafoe

WTA Hungarian Ladies Open
Anastasia Potapova has made a slow start to 2019 but she is one of the brightest talents in the women's game and the 17-year-old has what it takes to go close in a moderate field in the WTA Hungarian Ladies Open.
Potapova, who is already a two-time WTA finalist, faces Great Britain's out-of-form Heather Watson in the opening round in Budapest and the draw could open up for her after that.
Recommendation
A Potapova
