Gilles Simon has reached the semi-finals in Marrakech without dropping a set and the French fourth seed can tee up a title-decider with victory over Pablo Andujar.

Simon, a Grand Prix Hassan II champion in Casablanca in 2008, has history in this event and there is a lot to like about the way he is still operating at the age of 34.

The world number 27 has bulldozed his way past Jozef Kovalik, Guido Andreozzi and Taro Daniel and he is a worthy favourite to add Andujar to his list of Moroccan victims.

The seasoned Spaniard did well to overhaul Philipp Kohlschreiber in the second round, but he was fortunate to receive a quarter-final bye following Jiri Vesely’s retirement and the bulk of his success has been claimed on the Challenger tour.
