WTA Linz

Katerina Siniakova impressed with a run to the quarter-finals of the China Open last week and has the capability to go even further in a wide open tournament in Austria this week.

A competitive field includes number one seed Julia Goerges - a losing finalist at the event in 2012 - defending champion Barbora Strycova and second seed Kiki Bertens, who is searching for her fourth tournament victory of the year.

But Goerges and Bertens (the 3-1 tournament favourite) underwhelmed with third-round exits at last week's China Open and Strycova was even less impressive in Beijing, losing her first-round match to Petra Martic 6-2 6-3.

Siniakova was far more impressive at the China Open where she had to come through two qualifying matches to earn entry to the main draw.

She won three matches in the main draw, including a dominant 6-4 6-3 third round success over Bertens.

The Czech also impressed in her previous tournament, reaching the last eight at Wuhan, and is playing well enough to go the distance in Linz.
