Karolina Pliskova’s twin can press on in Grand Slam prep
Plenty still to come from less vaunted sister Kristyna
Quarter-finals, from 10am Thursday
Kristyna Pliskova is a title winner in waiting and the slow-burner of the Czech twins should have too much for Johanna Larsson in their Nuremberg Cup quarter-final clash.
Karolina, Kristyna's sister, has made all the headlines by reaching the world number one spot and going close to winning Grand Slams, but there’s still time for the less vaunted of the pair to strut her stuff.
Larsson is an experienced opponent who knows the time of day on clay, but the Swede tends to peak only once or twice a year and that may not happen in Germany.
Pliskova was shorter than Larsson in outright lists so 8-11 looks fair enough about a player whose best years lie ahead of her.
Eurosport 2 are showing French Open qualifying live from 9am and the Roland Garros main draw ceremony at 6pm.
Recommendation
Kristyna Pliskova
