Gavrilova should send Giorgi on her way

Bookmakers can barely split Camila Giorgi and Daria Gavrilova in their Cincinnati clash and it could pay punters to place their faith in the Russian-born Australian.

Gavrilova was pipped by Barbora Strycova in the Rogers Cup last week and may not be far away from posting a decent run in a big tournament such as this.

Giorgi is still making gradual improvement, but the Italian is no world-beater and looks short enough given that she seldom goes deep in important events.

Gavrilova looks good enough to capture Premier Five titles and could go close to winning Grand Slams, so she ought to be up to despatching a player of Giorgi's stature.

Elina Svitolina was a fine winner of the Rogers Cup in Toronto on Sunday and the Ukrainian may be vulnerable against Lesia Tsurenko.

Like Svitolina, Tsurenko is improving and is capable of causing the favourite problems.

Svitolina tends not to carry over her form in big events so Tsurenko could see support on total-games handicaps.

It's no surprise to see Feliciano Lopez being backed to make life tough for Grigor Dimitrov.

Queen's Club champion Lopez is having a fine season and the Spaniard should be fresh for a decent crack at the Bulgarian after a quieter couple of weeks.

Dimitrov is playing pretty well, though, so Lopez backers could not be entirely confident about the Toledo ace upsetting his opponent.

Lopez is 4-7 to win at least a set, which could interest more cautious punters.
