Today's French Open predictions

Three British men will feature in the third round of the French Open for the first time since 1968 on Saturday, with Jack Draper — who will face Brazilian rising star Joao Fonseca in what promises to be a thrilling encounter — the headline act.

There will definitely be a Brit in the second week, too, as Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley are set to square off for a spot in the fourth round at Roland Garros.

Elsewhere on day seven, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic will take to the court, while Coco Gauff and Mirra Andreeva headline the women’s action.

Joao Fonseca vs Jack Draper predictions

Jack Draper needed four sets against Mattia Bellucci and French crowd favourite Gael Monfils, and he could be pushed again by rising star Joao Fonseca.

Draper has enjoyed an impressive season, translating his hard-court form to clay with a Madrid Open final appearance and a Rome quarter-final run. His consistency makes him a worthy favourite in this third-round clash.

However, in 18-year-old Fonseca, he faces arguably the brightest prospect on the ATP Tour.

The Brazilian has been excellent in Paris, seeing off Hubert Hurkacz and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in straight sets to reach this stage. He can trouble anyone, but Draper’s form may prove too much.

Cameron Norrie vs Jacob Fearnley predictions

Cameron Norrie is ranked 26 places below Jacob Fearnley, but the former top-ten player looks a solid favourite in this all-British battle.

Norrie made the semi-finals in Geneva as a qualifier last week, losing to Novak Djokovic, and he’s already accounted for Daniil Medvedev and Federico Agustin Gomez in Paris — playing far above his ranking.

Fearnley overcame 40-year-old Stan Wawrinka before benefiting from an injured Ugo Humbert’s retirement. A clash with a confident Norrie looks a step up in difficulty.

Marketa Vondrousova vs Jessica Pegula predictions

In the women’s draw, 2019 French Open runner-up Marketa Vondrousova could be a value underdog against Jessica Pegula.

Vondrousova has battled injuries throughout her career but looked strong in her 6-0 4-6 6-3 second-round win over Magdalena Frech. She also won her only previous meeting with Pegula — on her way to lifting the Wimbledon title two years ago.

This preview originally featured Andrey Rublev vs Arthur Fils. That match has been cancelled after Fils withdrew with an injury. All bets on that match will be voided.
