French Open: Carlos Alcaraz 7-4 for Wimbledon after epic Roland Garros comeback
Spain's Carlos Alcaraz defeats Jannik Sinner 4-6 6-7 6-4 7-6 7-6 to win a second French Open title

Carlos Alcaraz is 7-4 to successfully defend his Wimbledon title after defying in-play odds of 89-1 to stage a dramatic comeback against Jannik Sinner in last night’s French Open final.
The defending champion appeared set to surrender his Roland Garros crown when he faced three championship points at 3-5 down in the fourth set. However, he fought back from 0-40 to hold serve, then broke Sinner and went on to win the set in a tiebreak.
Alcaraz and Sinner exchanged breaks in the final set, with Alcaraz failing to serve out the match at 5-4, but the Spaniard dominated the deciding tiebreak, winning it 10-2 to defeat Sinner 4-6 6-7 6-4 7-6 7-6. It was the longest French Open final in history and the second-longest Grand Slam final of the Open era.
Alcaraz, advised at 6-5 ante-post by Racing Post Sport's Aaron Ashley, was matched at a high of 90.0 on Betfair Exchange when three match points down in the fourth set. A total of £181,984 was traded on Sinner at the minimum price of 1.01 (1-100), with nearly £2 million matched on the Italian at 1-10 or shorter.
Some bookmakers are finding it hard to separate the two French Open finalists in the Wimbledon outright market. Sinner is a narrow favourite with several firms and a top price of 13-8 with Betfair Sportsbook, although bet365 and Hills both go 6-4 the pair.
Coco Gauff, a 6-7 6-2 6-4 winner over Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday’s French Open women’s final, is best-priced at 8-1 to win the Wimbledon women’s title, with Sabalenka the 14-5 favourite.
