French Open: betting news and odds as Nadal wins 12th Roland Garros crown

Rafael Nadal is 13-2 for Wimbledon after winning his 12th French Open singles when defeating Dominic Thiem 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1 in the Roland Garros final.

Nadal, who was nailing an 18th major title (Roger Federer has 20 and Novak Djokovic has 15), is now the most successful singles player at a single grand slam tournament having moved clear of the 11 titles won by Margaret Court at the Australian Open.

On Saturday Ashleigh Barty beat Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets to win her first Grand Slam singles title at the French Open and the Australian is 10-1 to make it two in a row at Wimbledon next month.

Barty, who was 22-1 for Roland Garros glory at the start of the tournament, dominated the final as she easily justified favouritism with a 6-1 6-3 victory over her teenaged opponent.

The 23-year-old Queenslander was a quarter-finalist at her home Slam in January and bookmakers make her no bigger than 18-1 to delight the Melbourne crowds and win the Australian Open next year.

The vanquished Vondrousova, who beat Britain's Johanna Konta in the semi-finals, is a 50-1 shot to go one better at Wimbledon while Konta is a best-priced 20-1. Serena Williams and Petra Kvitova dispute favouritism for the grass-court Grand Slam, which starts on July 1.
