Some of the top women players have been suffering early exits in the China Open and the singles is already looking like a bit of a free-for-all.

There's a big opportunity for lesser players to make their name in Beijing this week after losses for world number one and top seed Garbine Muguruza, Angelique Kerber, US Open champion Sloane Stephens, Dominika Cibulkova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Monday, while British number one Johanna Konta lost on Sunday.

Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki, victorious in Tokyo recently, was last night 8-1 co-favourite with Karolina Pliskova and Elina Svitolina after defeating Pavlyuchenkova 6-2 6-2.

For anyone looking for a punting interest today, backing Taro Daniel at 4-6 to win at least a set against Yen-Hsun Lu in the ATP Japan Open is an option.

Daniel has played well for much of the season and could remain competitive in his homeland.

T Daniel to win at least a set
