ATP Kremlin Cup

Andrey Rublev finally gets the chance to defend his Kremlin Cup title following last season’s cancellation, but he may be upstaged in his defence by his Russian compatriot Aslan Karatsev.

Rublev disappointed last week at Indian Wells, losing in the second round in three sets to Tommy Paul, and although he has a nice draw to work with, there is little juice in his price.

Karatsev, however, is slowly coming to the boil and recent performances have been far more encouraging.

The 28-year-old is a late bloomer and made his breakthrough at the Australian Open earlier this year, when springing a surprise to reach the semi-finals.

Karatsev has since won a title in Dubai and reached a final in Serbia, and there has been plenty to like about the way he is going about his business.

The Russian made the quarter-final in San Diego, where he toppled Hubert Hurkacz, earlier this month and claimed the scalp of Denis Shapovalov in California last week.

In this lesser field, with a decent draw to work with, Karatsev should make his presence felt and he makes great each-way appeal.

The women's field looks ultra-competitive and it is no surprise to see bookmakers go 9-2 the field in a competition where cases can be made for many.

European Open

Alex de Minaur has struggled for consistency this season, but the Australian’s recent efforts hint that he could be set for a strong finish to the campaign.

Despite his struggles, the 22-year-old has still managed to win two titles on the ATP Tour and more silverware could be on the cards in Antwerp.

De Minaur defeated compatriot Aleksandar Vukic and Cristian Garin before taking Stefanos Tsitsipas to three sets at Indian Wells last week and this field is nowhere near as fierce.

The world number 27 finished runner-up to Frenchman Ugo Humbert in the final of this competition last season and he has an excellent draw to work with.

In fact, there should be few corners for the Aussie before a potential quarter-final with Diego Schwartzman, who is undoubtedly better on clay.

With Jannik Sinner, Roberto Bautista Agut and Lloyd Harris drawn in the opposite half of the draw, this represents a big chance for De Minaur to tee up another title decider.
