Betting preview

Men's tennis has been dominated by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic for the best part of the last two decades but, in their absence, a quartet of rising stars have made the last four of the ATP China Open.

Dominic Thiem meets Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals while Alexander Zverev plays Stefanos Tsitsipas in the latest chapter of their developing rivalry and Greek star Tsitsipas looks worth a bet to make Sunday's final.

The two young guns do not share the best off-court relationship - Zverev's reaction to Tsitsipas's victory at the Laver Cup recently was tepid compared to that of his joyous European teammates - and that should make for a spicy encounter in Beijing.

While neither player has been in great form, Tsitsipas has been playing better tennis overall this season, reaching a career-high fifth in the world in August, while Zverev has looked largely passive from way back behind the baseline.

He served well to beat Sam Querrey in the quarter-finals but there will be extra pressure when he takes on a player who has beaten him in each of their last two clashes. Tsitsipas should arguably be favourite.

WTA star Naomi Osaka ended Bianca Andreescu's seven-month unbeaten run in a quarter-final thriller and the Japanese star will be favourite to beat Caroline Wozniacki while Ashleigh Barty is likely to prove too strong for Kiki Bertens.
