ATP World Tournament: tips & TV details for the Rotterdam quarter-finals
Stan Wawrinka should take down teenager
Amazon Prime, 10am Friday
Stan Wawrinka won Rotterdam’s World Tournament in 2015 and the battling Swiss looks to have a decent chance of winning a first ATP title since chronic knee problems threatened to end his career in the latter part of 2017.
Wawrinka has been in excellent form in Holland this week, dismissing two dangerous opponents in Benoit Paire and Milos Raonic, and he has an excellent chance of advancing to the semi-finals at the expense of young Canadian Denis Shapovalov.
Shapovalov has also impressed this week, and leads Wawrinka 1-0 in their head-to-head series, but the veteran is arguably playing his best tennis since his comeback and can turn the tables on the teenage pretender.
Indoor tennis typically favours more experienced performers and few players have been there and done it to quite the extent of the 33-year-old, who has pocketed three Grand Slams titles in his career and looks determined to get back to the top.
