The Spanish are once again showing they are the top clay-court nation, this time in the Alps, and Iberians Pablo Andujar and Albert Ramos-Vinolas will clash for a place in the final of the Swiss Open in Gstaad.

Ramos-Vinolas had been struggling for form until this week so Andujar was on the shortlist for the trophy at the Roy Emerson Arena despite the fact that the Cuenca native is in the twilight of his career at 33 years of age.

But Ramos-Vinolas may have turned a corner in Gstaad. The 31-year-old Catalan has been hitting the ball better and the way he has seen off Henri Laaksonen, second seed Fernando Verdasco and the much-improved Roberto Carballes Baena in recent days suggests he may have rediscovered his A-game.

Even though Andujar was a shorter outright price at the outset, it would be no surprise to see AR-V favourite to progress to the trophy match and he can be backed to beat his compatriot.

In Hamburg, second seed and homeland hero Alexander Zverev will face off against defending champion Nikoloz Basilashvili for a place in the German Open final.

A Ramos-Vinolas
