Betting preview

Andy Murray is making significant strides on his return to competitive tennis and the Brit can produce a show of strength when he takes on Juan Londero in the first round of the Shanghai Masters.

Murray has needed time to find his feet since his career-saving hip operation but the 32-year-old was starting to look like his old self in reaching the quarter-finals of the China Open last week.

The Scot has enjoyed Shanghai success in the past, winning the title in 2010, 2011 and 2016 and reaching the final in 2012, and, while a similar triumph may prove beyond him at this stage, there is no reason why Murray shouldn't play well this week.

Londero qualified with wins over Viktor Troicki and Bradley Klahn but the Argentinian has limited hard-court experience and Murray could have too much guile for his opponent. His comeback has been a watching brief to this point but now looks the time to back him to show his class.
